The ESRC have funded a new research project on the fresh food sectors in the UK and Portugal, focusing on poultry, fish, and fruit and vegetables.  The project aims to assess what ‘fresh’ food means to retailers and consumers, including the technologies that are used to promote and maintain freshness and the marketing claims with which fresh foods are associated.  The project will run until June 2018 and there are opportunities for food businesses and consumer organizations to engage with the project as interviewees, case studies or workshop participants.  The research team is based at the University of Sheffield, working with colleagues at the University of Lisbon.  For further information, visit the project website at www.freshresearch.net or contact Professor Peter Jackson at p.a.jackson@sheffield.ac.uk
